Celebrating the Work of Local Writers

Though they often go begging for the recognition lavished on their colleagues in the visual arts, music or theater, Central PA boasts a large and talented contingent of creative writers. Most toil away in anonymity, but thanks to a popular writing workshop at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library, 22 of them now have seen their short stories in print in a new collection.

Kari Larsen is a writer and editor dwelling on the banks of the Susquehanna and the author of Say You're a Fiction (Dancing Girl), The Black Telephone (Unthinkable Creatures), and Come as Your Madness (Birds of Lace).

Chelsea Hess-Moore is the administrative assistant and a contributing writer for Benchmark Group Media.  As a recent journalism graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May of 2012, she is now pursuing her Master’s in Communications at Shippensburg University. 

Aside from the love of writing she has, she also has a passion for cheerleading.  From grade school through college, she spent her years as a cheerleader and is still actively involved in her community with recreational cheerleading teams.  She is very family oriented and loves spending time with her four younger sisters.  Through her self motivation, support of her family and faith in God, she hopes to continue to grow in her writing abilities as well as keeping up with the change to a digital media era.

SCOTT CAMPBELL is a regular contributor ro Harrisburg Magazine and Lehigh Valley Magazine, in particular, with his regular column, "Gallery Space".
