Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center Charitable Giving Totals More Than $500,000 in Communities

Visitors to the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (H•MAC) know what a unique space it is. From the Stage on Herr, an entertainment venue featuring music acts from around the world, to H•MAC’s Kitchen, offering patrons made-from-scratch palate pleasing lunch and dinner delights --- H•MAC has become a Midtown neighborhood institution.

What many may not know are the numerous charitable contributions it has donated to and the fundraisers it has held to benefit organizations throughout the area. Since its inception in 2009 H•MAC has contributed to and raised over $500,000 for charitable organizations. The tradition of giving is something not apparent to the general public but one that continues as the center enters its seventh year of operation.

H•MAC partner John Traynor says that working with organizations in need is something he has traditionally done during his career and cites that it has developed lasting relationships with many area non-profits creating community goodwill and trust.

As a business owner here in Harrisburg, I feel it is so important to be fully immersed in the community and I recognized early on how many organizations really needed our help,” he said. “From day one, it was always my goal to extend beyond our doors to provide outreach to those in need.”

Organizations that have benefitted from H•MAC contributions and fundraisers include:

  • Jump Street

  • YWCA of Harrisburg

  • YMCA of Harrisburg

  • Little Buffalo Festival

  • Harrisburg LGBT Center

  • Civic Club of Harrisburg

  • Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg

  • Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition

  • Toys for Tots

  • Wounded Warrior Project

  • River Rescue
