VeTour Production’s Bloodbath Bash
Halloween is just around the corner, and if putting together a costume isn’t really your thing check out VeTour Production’s Bloodbath Bash. In the fifth installment of the Bloodbath Bash, Harrisburg can hope to paint the city redder than ever in fake blood. The event will be hosted by the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) on October 25, and has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a house party in Midtown Harrisburg. The Bloodbash idea was hatched in 2009 by three guys who wanted to throw a Halloween party but didn’t want to have to dress up. The concept for the event is very simple: Wear a white t-shirt. Go to the bash. Get covered in fake blood. No costume required.
Bloodbash co-creator, and owner of VeTour Productions, Sean Kunkle, said that his goal is to create, “...an atmosphere that’s surreal. Something that Harrisburg can say, ‘what the f is going on right now?’” The Bloodbash aftermath is sure to make people say just that. It’s an interesting scene as those covered in fake blood, integrate with the rest of the city some of whom are unaware of the theme. It can be jarring, comical, and downright scary.
This year the Bloodbath Bash theme is Carrie, from the 1976 Stephen King classic. It will feature a prom photobooth where bashers can have their photo taken as they’re splattered in blood. Harrisburg can expect this year’s bash to be, “chaos” according to Kunkle. Blood filled balloons will float above the dance floor waiting to be popped and rain down blood. The soundtrack to the evening will be provided by DJs Masterglass, Pfarrcyde, and Sleezy D. The event starts at 9 p.m. and there will be a $5 cover.
Tips for new Bloodbash goers:
• Wash fake blood off skin before going to bed. If you forget, and find that soap and water won’t do the trick in the morning, try mixing baking soda with water.
• DO NOT go to the Bloodbash in clothes that you don’t want to get bloody.
• Get creative with your whites. Don’t limit yourself to just t-shirts. How about wearing that old prom dress again? It is Carrie themed after all.
