FIFA’s Timely Corruption

Sepp Blatter and his fellow FIFA counterparts have felt that heat in the past week with the indictment of 14 members of FIFA’s own governing body by U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch according to U.S. News and World Report. Blatter, the president of the committee, was not indicted but authorities say he could be next to surrender to FBI agents according to CNN.

An Island of Goals

The Harrisburg City Islanders inception was in 2003 when the team made its home on one of Harrisburg’s most beloved attractions, City Island. The team is in their 12th season and has made it to the top of the amateur rank right below Major League Soccer as they play in the United Soccer League. The Islanders are directly affiliated with the Philadelphia Union and are filter young, talented players up to the MLS club almost every year. Harrisburgmagazine.com sat down to talk with Team President Tiago Lopes and discussed the City Islanders as he is just in his second year with the team. We discussed the history, his expectations and what the people of Central Pennsylvania can look forward to in the coming years cheering on our home club at Skyline Sports Complex.

Q&A with Mary Lambert

The song “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is what brought singer-songwriter, Mary Lambert out of the Seattle music scene. Since then her song “Secrets” has been playing on radio stations nationwide. The 25-year-old songstress will be performing at 8 p.m., March 31 at the Sunoco Performance Theatre in the Whitaker Center, 222 Market St., Harrisburg.

Gamut Theatre Chosen to Premiere New Play: Women Playing Hamlet

Next Friday, March 13th, the Gamut Theatre Group premiers Women Playing Hamlet, written by William Missouri Downs and directed by four-time Emmy winner Patrick Flick. The show runs through March 29th with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and matinees on Sundays at 2:30pm.

On October 17, The Smokers Club Tour brought an iconic hip hop concert to The Chameleon Club in Lancaster. The lineup included B-Real from Cyrpress Hill, Berner, Mick Jenkins (who has a new album out called The Waters) and Hip-Hop legends Method Man and Redman, who were the headliners for the tour.
