Be Well

Be Well

In today’s world, food is not just used to sustain and nourish the body. We use food to celebrate special occasions, like eating cake on our birthday or going to a fancy restaurant on our anniversary. It’s also a reward, like buying the little league team ice cream after a winning game. But what about using food to relieve stress? Recent scientific studies show that stress eating may actually be a myth.

This is the story of a sweet Cape Cod on an amazing lot, transformed by architect Allison Ong Shreffler into a flowing home. Here, one young family realized that anyone can buy a new house, but location is priceless.

The Caliber of Community Lawyers

The Caliber of Community Lawyers

Practicing law is more than reading legislation. It’s about pro bono litigation, a wide breadth of knowledge and a desire to work for the community. Reservoir Park is the largest municipal park in Harrisburg, taking up a portion of the Allison Hill neighborhood, and is home to a variety of attractions that include the National Civil War Museum. A part of the Capital Area Greenbelt, a 20-mile green-way that surrounds portions of the city, it is the site of outdoor festivals and performances, a number of which are performed in the band shell, another of the park’s most exemplary structures.

Face in the Crowd

Face in the Crowd

This time of year evokes memories of Christmases long ago when a familiar scene in the home comprised that of a decorated conifer under which circled a model train. However, for some, that “season” never ended. Model railroading has become a year-round hobby enjoyed by millions of Americans. One group dedicated to this purpose is the Keystone Model Railroad Historical Society (KMRHS), headquartered in an early 20th-Century trolley station at the west end of Mechanicsburg.

Doing Good

Doing Good

On December 30, 2015, Carla Pikey of Etters felt a lump in her breast. By the first week of January, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Of course, to survive, Pikey needed treatment, but getting herself home from chemotherapy appointments would be an issue. She lived alone, did not have close family members nearby and her friends had to go to their jobs. Friends suggested that she call the American Cancer Society (ACS), and that call put Pikey on the “Road To Recovery” in the most literal sense.

Protect Yourself

Wills and the other facets of estate planning force people to consider the idea of death, and prenups make them tackle the possibility of divorce. Neither issue is pleasant, but preparing for them with legal documents provides undeniable protection as well as blessed peace of mind.
