Delightful Do-Over

Delightful Do-Over

A Do-Over. That's what I wished for during the last week of January, after long month filled with arctic temperatures, frequent snow and very little sign of spring in sight. I wanted to forget the furnace breakdown at my house over New Year's, mid-month car repairs and a catastrophic sewer line blow out at the end of the month, my failed attempts to go to the gym regularly and eat a more healthy diet. I wanted a reset. And the Chinese New Year provided me that luxury.

Cold Comfort

Cold Comfort

Comfort food. That's what I was seeking out when I walked into Black N Bleu in Mechanicsburg on a Thursday evening last fall, after a long day of work, numerous errands, with a ravenous foodie daughter in tow.

What? A Crock?

What? A Crock?

With magazine covers full of headlines like "New Year, New You", I should be writing cheerily about New Year's resolutions, exercise, and healthy food choices. Piece of Cake and Cookies Too

Fast Freunds

Fast Freunds

The first week in November I had the extreme honor and pleasure stay at a Gasthouse in Germany. Food and drink were a compliment to the good company, but did not seem to be the object of our gatherings. And through my experience, I just may have learned the secret for attaining world peace. It's called a Brotzeit.

The Great Pumpkin... Beers.

The Great Pumpkin... Beers.

I don’t like pumpkin beers. No... seriously, I really don’t like pumpkin beers. Being an ever adventuresome craft beer drinker, I have given a spare few varieties a try with no satisfaction. They curdled my tongue like spoiled milk and I vowed to not drink them again. But given their popularity these days, and the wealth of new varieties, I can't deny there must be some appeal to this flavor I am missing.

Food and Wine: The Culinary Dynamic Duo

Food and Wine: The Culinary Dynamic Duo

It’s the culinary dynamic duo – wine and food. Nothing quite brings out the true flavors of a gourmet dish like the perfect wine pairing. And, likewise, nothing enhances the taste complexities of fine wine like the ideal food companion.

The Weekend Is My Oyster

The Weekend Is My Oyster

After three months of working overtime, I set aside five days to visit Chincoteague Island, Virginia, with friends on the weekend of the 40th annual OysterFest... and a visit with the "Clam Farmer".
