As Black History Month comes to an end, we can continue to celebrate hidden gems of African-American heritage that exist right here in our own back yards. According to Joe Farrell and Joe Farley, authors of Keystone Tombstones: Volume One, the Lincoln Colored Cemetery off Winding Hill Road in Mechanicsburg is the final resting place for multiple black Civil War Veterans.

Today was a grey raw rainy day. I would have preferred to go straight home after work, promptly pull on some sweats, and plop on the couch with a Troegenator. But my daughter needed an annual physical for sports that couldn't wait. The doctor's office was in Mechanicsburg, so ever being the opportunist, since I was there I decided to make the most of it.
