Recently we had the opportunity to visit Providenciales, one of just 8 inhabited islands of the 40 in the northern Caribbean known as Turks and Caicos. Having traveled to the Caribbean a few times before we were prepared for beautiful beaches, friendly people, good food and a relaxing experience. We were not prepared for conch diving, Dirty Monkeys, playing in flour, and all the new friends that we met along the way.

I’m sitting at home over spring break using the few days of relaxation to read. My current read is "The Living End" by Lisa Samson, a book about a woman named Pearly who sets out to accomplish the seven things her husband had wanted for the two of them to do together “while they’re living.” Some things he had wanted to do for years, others were things he came up with for his wife. Sadly, he died right before he was going to explain each item to her.

As luminous as just-fallen snow, they fill the landscape of Door County, Wisconsin. Typically bursting forth in mid-May from over 2,000 acres of mainly Montmorency trees, these cherry blossoms are spring’s show-stoppers. But they are not all that delight this season in the Door, a 70-mile long peninsula cradled by the waters of Lake Michigan to the east and Green Bay to the west.

Wyoming: Unbroken Land of Savage Beauty

In June, I undertook a week-long expedition across Wyoming, which I’d never visited. What little I knew of it (as sparsely populated and ranch-filled, with a wonderful national park), I gleaned from pop culture. So when friends invited me to join them in Sheridan, a charming burg in the north-central part of the state, I jumped at the chance.
